In 2004, after 38 years (36 at National Park School), Trudy Randazzo retired from teaching. But she didn't retire from her favorite after hour's activity.....Association work.

Trudy first became active in 1968 when she met Laura Maltman and attended her first Gloucester County Education Association meeting. In 1970 she was elected president of her local, NPEA. Realizing the need for training in this important job, she made plans to attend the NJEA Summer Leadership Conference. In 1972 she was a delegate to the NEA Representative Assembly in Atlantic City, and from then on she never turned back. She has served the members in many capacities, including President of GCEA.

Currently Trudy is the liaison between the Gloucester County Retirees and the Active members of GCEA. She hopes to represent the county at the NEA-R and NEA RA at the Annual Meeting in July at Washington D.C.

Trudy earned her BA and MA from Glassboro State College, now Rowan University. She lives in Deptford with her husband, Joe, and their three children.  According to Trudy, "My forty year

involvement in Association work has been possible because of the support and encouragement of my husband and family."

Shirley was born and educated in Woodbury, NJ. She earned both her BS and MS degrees from Temple University in Philadelphia.  Shirley’s 33 years of teaching began as an 8th grade teacher in Deptford for three years.  This was followed by three years in Woodbury teaching 7th grade students.  Shirley then took a five year hiatus from teaching following the birth of her daughter.  For the next 27 years, Shirley taught 5th and 6th grades in Wenonah.

Shirley served as association president for 16 of her 27 years in Wenonah. Since 1992 she has served as Membership Chair and Secretary of GCREA. As an active member of the Wenonah United Methodist Church, Shirley has served as Trustee President for 20 years and Treasurer.

Bill was born in Philadelphia on January 18, 1941. He and his family moved to Gloucester County, New Jersey when he was six weeks old. Bill attended elementary school in Glassboro and graduated in 1959 from Glassboro High School. He received his BA in music education from Glassboro State College (now Rowan University) in 1963. In 1968 he earned his MA in organ performance from Glassboro State College.

Bill taught elementary general music in the Mantua Township Public Schools from 1963 to 1971.

From 1971 until his retirement in 1994, he taught music in the Whitman Square Elementary School in Washington Township.

For 50 years Bill has served as Minister of Music at First United Methodist Church in Glassboro.

He is a member of the Executive Committee of the American Guild of Organists, music coordinator for the Gloucester County Historical Society, member of the museum committee at GCHS, and currently serves as President of the Gloucester County Retired Educators Association.
